Three different boards go by the name MDF, and they are not interchangeable. Here is what each one is for and which of them we can put in your hands.
The short answer: if the board will be seen and you do not want to paint it, you want laminated MDF, and that is in the shop. If it will be painted or routed, you want plain MDF, which comes through the family shop next door. Either way, bring your measurements and we will work out the sheet count with you — estimates are free.

Plain MDF
Raw board, finished on site. What you want when the piece is going to be painted, routed or moulded — routing a profile into plywood exposes the ply lines, and into MDF it does not.

Before you order
Where MDF belongs, and where it does not
MDF is compressed fibre with no grain. That is exactly why it takes a finish so evenly, and exactly why it gives way in the second list.
Good choice for

Do you sell MDF in Mirpur?
Yes, in three forms. Laminated MDF is the Al Noor LMDF range and it is in the shop — nine ranges, factory-finished. Plain MDF and ZRK UV board come through Aziz Wood House and Janjua Timber Merchant, the two family shops beside us. Tell us what the job is and we will say which one it wants and what is on the floor.
What is the difference between MDF and LMDF?
LMDF is MDF with a decorative laminate pressed onto it at the factory, so it arrives finished and needs no painting or polishing. Plain MDF arrives raw and has to be finished on site. On cabinet doors and wardrobe fronts that is usually the whole decision, because a factory finish on a large flat panel is more even than anything applied on site.
Is MDF a good choice for kitchen cabinet doors?
For the doors, yes — laminated MDF is what most kitchens here use, because a door is a flat panel where the finish matters more than the screw-holding. For the carcass underneath, plywood holds a screw better and sags less over a span, so a lot of kitchens use both.
Can I use MDF near water?
Treat it with caution. MDF is compressed fibre, so a raw edge that takes up water swells and does not come back. Where the board will meet steam or splash regularly, ask us about the alternatives before you buy rather than after.
What panel sizes does the LMDF come in?
The Alnoor Lasani ranges come in 8 ft x 4 ft and 9.2 ft x 4 ft panels depending on the range. The size is listed on each range on our Al Noor LMDF page.
Do you publish MDF prices?
No. Board rates move with the market, so we quote on the day rather than listing a price that goes out of date. Send the type, size and quantity on WhatsApp and we will come back with the current rate. Estimates are free.
